Jack's Wild Rumpus!

Thursday, April 17, 2014 my son Jack turned the BIG 1! His first birthday was such a big deal for me so I wanted to throw him a party he would enjoy. As the theme I choose "Where The Wild Things Are". After Googling and looking through Pintrest for idea's this is what i came up with.

The Cake area:
The pinata was custom made by my uncle and his friend. The Max candy bags and Max costume where made by me. They were made from felt, ribbon, and black fabric paint. The XL banner was made from Vista Print. The cake was made by my cousin. Cake stand was a wood slab

Jack's Journey

My birthing/ nicu experience

Tuesday, April 16, 2013 - I had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. Thinking they wre just gonna do some test I had my mom come in with me. Turned out I had to remove my bottom clothing. They had me in a room to get checked for any deseses or anything that can pass to my baby. I was also hooked up to a band with a monitor. The doctor swabbed my cervix and had me waiting, when finally the nurse comes in to check my baby's heartbeat and the monitor. Which at the time my son was asleep, so she ended up placing a timer to my belly to wake him up. She then checks the papers coming out of the monitor and tells me i'm having contractions. I replied with "Really"? And she replies with "Yes, you don't feel them"? I said "No". The doctor finally comes back, checks the monitor and checks for dilation. I was about 4 cent. dilated. She tells me to get dressed and go straight to the hospial. 4th Floor and the nurses there would register me there.
My mom and I were in total shock. Text everyone that i'm might be having the baby today or tomorrow. As i get to the labor and delivery I had to sign a paper. Got put in a large room with other women. I put a hospital gown and got an ultrasound to check the size, length, etc of the baby. I eventually got put into a room. (Room 10) I got poked twice for the I.V. I didn't get the epidural right away, I waited till the pain became unbearable.

My last meal was at noon. I couldn't have anything to eat till i had the baby. I was starving! I had to constantly get my blood checked. I super uncomfortable during the night. My belly was extremly itchy, which i was struggling with during my pregnancy. My back was hurting and all i wanted to do was walk around. During the wee hours of the morning. I was in and out of sleep, watching infomercials.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 - By this time i got checked i was about a little bit more dialated. They ended up popping my water bag which was a bit uncomfortable. Once they popped my bag I started feeling the contractions. They felt like a sharp pain underneath my left butt. Even after two epidural I was still feeling a bit of pain which i suppose is normal. My convinced my mom to go home and shower, I even advised her not to wet her hair. Good thing cause by then I ended up getting my epidural and soon then after I ended up having my son. It all went by quick. My son Jack Ian was born at 3: 23 PM weighing at 5 lbs 13 oz 20 inches. 36 Weeks

I was in so much relief giving birth and being able to eat. I stayed in the hospital of a total of 4 days. My son was put into the NICU due to "Pinked out" as they called it. He was born with a heredity illness from me. Laryngomalacia & Tracheomalacia. He was in the hospital for a month and transferred to a children's hospital for surgery. He was there for about two weeks. The two surgeries he got were a Gtube and a fundalpalcation. Once I brought him home he was 1 month and two weeks old.
